In 2009-2010, Google Places was launched and it rolled out throughout the country.Google places reffers to Location based search results on Google which is very benificial for top ranking for any site. Google places A product that lets you create and manage free business listings in Google Maps so that people can see your business when doing a local search.
  • Google Places allows business owners to update their physical business location information so it can be shown in Google Maps. You also create a free business listing, known as a local Google+ page, that can appear on Google.com, Google Maps, and Google Earth when someone searches for your business name or category.
  • Using Google Places, you can run local ads through AdWords Express, which allows you to advertise your business on Google and Google Maps to attract visitors to your website or Place page.

1.     HOW TO SUBMIT:


This is a very simply & easy process. All you have to do is open a Google Places Centre account.

  • Select the Country in which you want your listing to be visible in & enter a contact number where you can find business information relevant to your business. If you are not listed in Google listing you will get one form(Download template) to fill in all the details of your business.
               
Once Google has verified all the details, you will be preceded to the next step.
It is very important to keep in mind that your business will not be submitted in Google’s local listings until all your details have been accurately and correctly entered.
  • If your business has more than 10 business locations, you can quickly add your business under bulk upload.
  • This can be done by downloading a Google template sheet & filling in all the details as shown below:

If your business has mor than 10 location, you can upload them from a spread sheet file.

 


Once you fill up all the required information in an excel sheet, click on the browse button to upload the file.
After Google checks if your listing comes out error free, then you will be asked for verification.
Once your listing is verified, your job is done!!

While optimizing for local search you can also add your business in other sites & directories besides Google Places.
Submitting business information in Web local, Yelp, Yellow Pages, LinkedIn, Gigpark & Ziplocal directories can definitely add value to the authority of your business.
You can also ask your client or customers to write their opinions & reviews about your products.
3. HOW TO TRACK:
Google Places dashboard helps you to track traffic that Google listing sends to your website.
Here you can check how your listing is performing, what are the performing keywords & from which locations the visitors have seen your website.
You get all this information in terms of impressions & actions that have happened in the past month
